11,600 SF | Completed May 2022
Built in 1981, the former 3,700 SF Station No. 3 was demolished to make way for a larger, more modern station on the same site. “The Kings of Gruene” responded to over 2,500 calls in 2021, making it the city’s busiest station. As part of a project that included the construction of two new fire stations, No. 2 and No. 3, under one contract, Station No. 3 now houses six firefighters daily and three vehicles, including a fire engine, brush truck and medical transport unit. The new 11,600 SF two-story fire station features space for a reserve fire engine or ambulance, a kitchen, living quarters, a day room and gym facilities. Respect for the residential neighborhood was taken into consideration while construction was completed in a tight workspace perimeter and the firefighters were housed off-site.
