0.7 acre park | Completed September 2019
Market Plaza is a 0.7-acre park located in Downtown New Braunfels. The park enhancement project added a central plaza with picnic tables and pergolas, a drinking fountain, new landscaping and irrigation, sidewalks connecting Tolle and Comal Streets with curb enhancements and improvements in drainage.
In May 2025, the City of New Braunfels, alongside the Comal County Historical Commission and the New Braunfels Parks Foundation, unveiled a new Texas Historical Marker recognizing Market Plaza’s legacy. Market Plaza was founded in 1845, where it was originally used as a meat market and later a meeting place for early settlers in the heart of New Braunfels. Eventually, after failed attempts to build on the Plaza for any use, it became a park. The Market Plaza park on Tolle Street is approximately 500 feet long and 60 feet wide.
